[01] INTRO

TREMORS VS. TREMORS

Transforming tremors into music to turn Parkinson's against itself.

[02] CONCEPT

The symptom becomes the therapy.

Tremors vs. Tremors is a pioneering project created with University College London (UCL) that turns tremor data into music to treat the multiple symptoms experienced by people with Parkinson’s.

[03] DATA

Collecting
the data

Using accelerometers, we measured and recorded the tremors of five patients - John,  Clare, Prakash, Steph, and Kuhan.

Crafting the songs

The tremors were then transformed from raw data into a musical element that affected the instruments in each song.
The melody was based on the participants’ musical preferences and the lyrics were inspired by their life stories, reflecting the unique way in which each participant deals with their condition.

[06] RESULTS

A new way to help manage symptoms.

The reactions of the participants were as individual as theirs symptoms. Through music and science, Steph, John, Kuhan, Clare and Prakash were able to experience their Parkinson's in a new way. The project helped them accept their condition while providing a new way to calm both their symptoms and mood.

[Kuhan]

“I must have heard that song over 1000 times now. I've been using it to calm down and alleviate all my symptoms.”
